Sports Museum at Kunchanjungha Stadium

In presence of Hon’ble Minister of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Govt of West Bengal, Sri Asok Bhattacharya, the sports museum “KRIRADIPTI” has been inaugurated by Sri Rahul Dravid, Vice Captain of Indian Cricket Team on 10th August 2004 , wherein The Captain of Indian Cricket team Sri Sourav Ganguly and promising cricketer Irfan Pathan were also present.

This is first of its kind in India. The basic objective of the Museum is to encourage younger generation in respect to sports & games. Mainly the Souvenirs, Mementoes, Trophies, Jerseys, etc. are being displayed. Recently on sports Kiosks(Touch Screen) has been installed and inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Govt of West Bengal, Sri Asok Bhattacharya & Chairman, SJDA.

Information about various sports & games can be available through this touch screen kiosk by simple fingertips. Along with theses beautification of the surrounding area has also been done to attract the visitors. SJDA welcomes all to visit this museum.
 

Manikganj Auditorium, Jalpaiguri

The aim of this project is to provide a facility for performing arts at local community level. A simple stage has been planned with all facility, around which various cultural activities can be organised in a modest way. The facility can also be used for various community based recreational activities as well as mass programs for health, education, etc. The approximate capacity of the hall is around 300 seats

The Approximate project cost is Rs. 23,32,750 (excluding the cost of compound lighting, charges related with WBSEB connection, sound system/acoustic measures, etc.

MODEL Slum at Sukantapally, Siliguri

This scheme has been initiated by the Govt. of India mainly for the construction/upgradation of houses & community toilets ( Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan) for persons belonging economically weaker section of society residing in slum type hutments. The scheme consists of a GOI subsidy of Rs. 20,000/- per unit of house & community toilet & the rest amount of the project cost is to be borne by the beneficiary or the executing agency. In the fund available till 2003, SJDA has taken up 419 housing units and 20 community toilet units at Dakshin Santinagar & Sukantapally with the total project cost of Rs. 189.20 lac. Including GOI subsidy of Rs. 90.60 lacs.
 

Raja Rammohan Roy Bride & Approach Road
(3rd Mahananda Bridge)

The bridge has been constructed just below the confluence of river Mahananda and Balasan to provide connection to North Bengal College and Matigara - Phansidewa road. After construction of this Bridge the people of Siliguri as well as from Jalpaiguri/Coochbehar districts shall have shorter access to North Bengal Medical College, providing the congested areas of Siliguri. With completion of this bridge the vast area between Mahananda river and Medical College and Phansidewa road adjoining the approach road shall witness rapid development. The construction of the bridge proper entrusted to PWD, has progressed satisfactorily. The bridge is of 12 x 40 m = 480 m lane with 12c piers on well foundation, superstructure of pre stressed girder and guide banks to channalise the two rivers to the bridge point. Road with will be of 7.5 metre wide with footpath on both sides. Planning commission has provide Rs. 598.00 lac has so far to SJDA for the project
 

Truck Terminus, Matigara

Parivahan Nagar Truck Terminal-cum-Office Complex (PNOC): Spread over more than 75 acres, PNOC is designed to provide integrated terminal facilities for long distance goods traffic, warehouses, godowns and container freight station. A number of offices of Central and State Government as well as private organization are coming up in the office complex including IOC, CIL, Income Tax, RPNN Shine Motors, Ganashakti, Bartaman, Ananda Bazar Patrika etc. The SJDA has contributed 10 acres of land to North Bengal Science Centre. The project is primarily self financing in nature. Total project cost is about 12 crore. The project has been completed January 1999.
