Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority is the premier & nodal organization for the planning and development activities, within its vast hinterland of 1266.64 sq km spread over Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Naxalbari and Phansidewa. Due to its unique geographical location, Siliguri has become the focal point, for the propagation and proliferation of trade and commerce in this area.

The Decadal growth rate in population by 51% in the ODP area has necessitated a tremendous demand for urban infrastructure, within the constraints of the limited resources. SJDA is gearing up to meet the shortfall, by taking up self-financing and revenue generating projects, thereby cross subsidizing the needs of poverty-stricken, by earning some profits through sale of office space, shops and developed land.
